May Events
May 3, 2012 in Monthly Meeting, Sewing Saturday
Sewing Saturday
Come and join the guild for a day of sewing, chatting, and good food. The guild invited other modern quilt guilds in state to come join us. Details:
Saturday, May 5
10 – 3
LDS Church
8171 S Jackson St (245 W)
Midvale, UT
Please note that this isn’t the church we normally meet at for Sewing Saturday. We are looking for a few more people to come early and help set up. Please email saltlakemqg@gmail.com, if you can come help. On the flip side, we also need volunteers to clean up.
Things to bring:
- Food (See details below.)
- An extension cord
- Power strip
- Iron/ironing board or rotary mat to share
Since it is Cinco de Mayo, the food theme is Mexican. To avoid everyone bringing chips and salsa, please let the group know what you are bringing by posting in the comments. If we want to bring something outside of them that’s good as well.
Monthly Meeting
This month we are exchanging handmade pouches with a $5 gift in the tote. The gift can be a treat, notions, or whatever your imagination comes up with. The tote can be a zipper tote or any other tote style as long as it doesn’t exceed the size limit, which is 12” x 12.” And since someone will ask, the size means the perimeter of the tote, not the quantity of fabric used. If this doesn’t make sense, talk to either Leigh or Rachel at Sewing Saturday. Check the calendar for date, time, and place details.
If you have questions regarding either event, email saltlakemqg@gmail.com.
Rachel

I’ll bring a taco soup.
I’ll bring a salad with Cafe Rio dressing.
I’ll bring mango black bean salsa with chips.
I will be bringing Margarita cupcakes… actually lets just call them super lime cupcakes as there is no alcohol in them.
I’ll bring a black bean side dish.
I’m being lazy so just leaving a note here. How did you guys get permission to meet at a church? that would solve so many of my problems, but we were denied…
We’ve only been denied when the building is already scheduled. We are also warned that we can be displaced if the building is needed for a funeral. So far it has always worked out.
Nice. I was told that since it isn’t a “church” thing we can’t use the building. Which is a major pain. Maybe I’ll try asking again… or just scheduling it.
Katie, it all depends on the policies of the stake or ward. Each one can set their own policies that they feel works best for their area. Some will let community groups use it as long as they have a member present, others won’t.
